WM 2022: Why this election will be massive

With an upcoming election to decide the WM for the last time in 2022, and the WM to celebrate the 1 year anniversary of the region, the PSD and TNO look set to battle it out.

In Meercovo, the announcement by PM Oleg Edwards that declared the ODU wasn't running a candidate was met with shock and anger.

"We are disgusted" was the response of one Oslo resident, with many more expressing their dismay. The ODU holds the Parliament, Prime Ministership and 9 out of the 12 governorships in Meercovo. At the WA Delegate election in November, 62.5% of the votes were in favour of the ODU.

With the ODU out of the picture, and Meercovo government declaring its support for Patec in the upcoming election, the PSD has confirmed that it is running with the release of a very detailed manifesto. The manifesto has received widespread support in Meercovo, leading to the obvious question- who will win?

Well, at this moment in time, Patec is in prime position to win. Being the incumbent, Patec is poised to quickly consolidate power in the upcoming election. If elected, Patec would be the first nation to ever be re-elected for a consecutive term.

However, Niater and the PSD have a card up their sleeves- the drop out of the ODU means that the ODU votes are more likely to go PSD in order to avoid another TNO victory. This means that nations such as FRS and Meercovo are much more likely to vote PSD for the first time in order to stop another TNO victory.

However, polls are a good indication of the state of play:

The polls have not accounted for the ODU dropping out, which can be seen in the 21st Poll. Before that poll, things were close between the three parties- the ODU on 3, PSD on 3 and TNO on 4.

However, the projections have fluctuated massively since the formation of the PSD. Before that, the ODU and TNO were in a close race- with projections indicating that the PSD would clinch victory.

But after the PSD was formed, a spanner was thrown in the works. The ODU briefly held the top spot, but the PSD has yet to come 1st in any polls.

The issues in this upcoming election are still forming, however, its becoming clear that the two parties, which have similar ideologies, will be in a tough fight for the WM position.
