WA Delegate Election on the horizon

With a matter of days left before the upcoming WA Delegate election, all eyes are on The New Orangalist Party to see who they may put forward as a candidate.

The Orange Order is bracing itself for the election of a new WA Delegate- with Meercovo standing down and FRS being declared the ODU candidate, TNO are yet to indicate who they may put forward.

The ODU is preparing for a major election battle, as TNO has a larger membership and reach. Losing the Delegacy to TNO would mean a TNO WM and WA Delegate, which would be disastrous for the ODU.

In a bid to reach out to alienated TNO members, the ODU has undergone a re-vamp, with a new election logo being introduced.

The ODU has also said that it is a strong alternative to TNO. New policies have been announced such as:

  • Reformation to the RP system

  • A law to protect trade and create a single-market for TOO

  • Introduction of a regional taxation system, to redistribute wealth and ensure regional economic growth

  • A multi-nation military campaign against terrorism which has spread rapidly in the region

  • A return to one-nation, one-vote, whereby all nations have one vote when it comes to legislation.

But these reforms to policy idea and appearance are said by some in TNO to be an attempt to cover up the surge of support for TNO. The party has quickly emerged as TOO's largest party, and is keen to act upon rising growth in the upcoming election.

However, TNO is yet to nominate a candidate. While no timetable has yet been set, it appears as though TNO may not be able to nominate a candidate, and that FRS will win by default.

Whatever happens, the two main parties are locked in a major battle for electoral success.
