Brunholl leaves Sekpolis Pact

Brunholl has officially left the Sekpolis Pact. What does this mean for the region?
Brunholl has left the Sekpolis Pact

The Sekpolis Pact, a grouping of nations founded by FRS, acts as the NATO of the region, defending nations interests through military links by pulling allied nations into wars if a member is attacked.

This pact was last initiated in the Meercovo-Zanjact war, when Brunholl was attacked by LVF. This inadvertently brought FRS into the war, almost beginning a region wide war. So the fact that in the past, Brunholl has used the pact, begs the question, why would Brunholl leave?

Well, with growing tensions as a result of the recently failed trade deal between Meercovo and Zanjact, the region is gearing up for war. These tensions have been hightened after the recent announcement by FRS:

"A socilian freightliner, allegedly carrying nuclear materials, officially designated for a nuclear plant at Port William (FK) is reported to have been intercepted, and its cargo seized by an, as of yet, unidentified nation, Alfonso Giuseppe has called upon the nation responsible to reveal themselves, in the meantime, all other ships containing high risk shipments have been given a military escort"

These rising tensions have indicated that a war is imminent once again, and some nations are fearful of the consequences. The failure of the recent WMD law to pass means that WMDs can now be used without prior permission.

Therefore, Brunholl issued this statement:

After much heated debate in parliament today President Will announced to the press that Brunholl will be going down a new path regarding international relations. A path of neutrality. “We have never had the taste for war. Regretfully we entered a conflict in the past and we wish for Brunhollian blood to never be spilled again in such a way. This regretfully means we will be leaving the Sekpolis pact with immediate effect. We look forward to forging diplomatic relations with all willing nations moving forward. Thank you”

Other nations are expected to announce total neutrality in the coming days, particularly smaller nations who wish not to be caught up in major conflicts.

However, these rising concerns are pointed directly at the most powerful nation in TOO, Zanjact. Zanjact commands the fate of the region, due to the huge armed forces in its possession. Fears have long existed regarding Zanjacts military power in the region.

Furthermore, the Chief of State in Patec recently stated:

“As a precautionary measure, seeing the recent mishap in Federal republic of Socialsts, and to act as a deterrent in the future and to protect the shipping of all nations, The Patecian Navy will ramp up patrols in the Pacific and Indian oceans. These more frequent and more heavily armed patrols will last for 3 months. The threat to merchant ships is to be reassessed at that time and this order may be renewed.”

This indicates that nations are preparing for war. Meercovo is expected to release a statement suggesting that its military will be placed on high alert.

But Brunholl leaving the pact has in fact increased the chances of war. The weakened Sekpolis Pact now contains only two nations, and one observer. The concerns about war are now heightened, as nations are less fearful of the pacts influence, and are more likely to challenge it.

However, all nations are reminded of the Zanjact-Meercovo Doctrine which prevents war between the nations included.
